Data protection, privacy and confidentiality

The information you provide

Red Maple Counselling gathers data to deliver a safe, secure and client-centred counselling service. Limited client details, assessment and session attendance is gathered, recorded and retained without any identifying information. Factual session notes are recorded after each appointment.

Confidentiality and sharing

There is no identifying information in session notes. In accordance with the BACP Ethical framework, I undertake Supervision on a regular basis to maintain ethical practice. All clients remain anonymous and unidentifiable for this purpose in relation to The Ethical framework. If there is a safeguarding concern, I am obliged to share this with relevant parties. There will be conversation with clients if this becomes necessary.

Access and storage

All information is retained safely and securely. No one other than myself has access to the information that clients provide. Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to access the information and I am happy to discuss this as the data processor and data controller. Information is kept for the duration of the counselling period after which it will be destroyed.

British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy

As an individual I am registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. This means that in order to maintain ethical working and practice I adhere to their Ethical Framework.
