Training and Mentoring

Training and Tutoring

Having been a teacher for 17 years, I have gained a vast variety of experience in learning environments. This experience involved having delivered AS/A2 Psychology, Religious Studies and and Health and Social Care within schools and colleges. In addition, I have also worked in supporting international students. With this I have a firm foundation as to what is required for effective teaching and learning as well as delivery of key aspects of varied curriculums.

Beyond this and more recently, I have taught Counselling on Undergraduate University courses as well as been an approved tutor on CPCAB courses at levels 2, 3 and 4. This has provided invaluable experience and insight in developing ethical, competent practitioners who are able to use their knowledge effectively. I have delivered teaching and learning with reference to ethical frameworks, competence and proficiency, user-centred practice, difference and diversity, the person-centred approach and other modalities, self awareness and development as well as professional development and reflective practice.

As such, I offer the opportunity for students of counselling at various stages to feel supported on their journey. I offer the space for them to develop their knowledge, experience and skills for their onward development both personally and professionally.

I aim to facilitate a positive, developmental learning environment that allows all learners to actualise their potential, to grow and develop in the ways that most meaningful to them. I am person-centred counsellor with experience of the integrative approach, so this will be what informs my teaching practice alongside the six necessary and sufficient conditions for change.

Supervision and Mentoring

I am also a qualified Supervisor of Therapeutic Counselling and regularly provide main and additional supervision. This work involves working with counsellors in training as well as counsellors who are qualified. As an accredited member of BACP, I work alongside colleagues to provide a collegiate, developmental and reflective space to ensure ethical and competent work.

I offer mentoring and additional supervision to support professional development and enhance training experiences. Supervision is provided for both individuals and groups.

Mentoring for counsellors is centred on developing plans for professional development, identifying key strengths and working on areas of growth and development. As a process, this is a collegiate and peer-development conversation that is centred upon the counsellors plans and goals for their onward personal and professional development.
